Classic Absinthe. Modern World

Hapsburg Absinthe - there are no rules

Absinthe was first formulated by a Frenchman, Dr. Pierre Ordinaire in 1792. 7 years later the formula was passed to Henry Louis Pernod of Pontarlier in France, who opened his first distillery (in Switzerland). By the 19th century many artists such as Monet, Degas, Picasso, painted or depicted ‘Absinthe’ and absinthe was seen as the ‘trendy’ drink, with absinthe spoons being almost as fashionable as Picasso himself.

Nowadays absinthe is undergoing a mini resurgence with the drink becoming increasingly popular and the legalisation of the drink globally enabling one to buy absinthe worldwide.
